Airbnb, which started as a vacation rental site, has gotten pretty popular in this economy. And now, they’re trying to expand their reach. Yep, and that means expand your reach too. On its website it has new add-ons like meet ups and other activities meant to broaden its appeal to an audience that just might want more than just a place to sleep.
They’re offering an experience only a local might have. And for someone traveling to france or Spain or say Holland, what more could you want than a little neighborhood flat AND the inside track on where people you’d like to meet go to hang out?
It’a called Airbnb Neighborhoods, and it’s a new feature that allows users to sort vacation rentals by filters like “Trendy,” “Great Transit” and “Artsy” in seven cities, including Paris, San Francisco and Berlin.
Do you like being the first to know?
Said Brian Chesky, co-founder and chief executive. “Airbnb is changing the way people travel. Now you can ask yourself what kind of experience do I want to have rather than say where should I go.”
In New York, users who go to the Neighborhoods page and choose “Dining” will call up areas like the West Village  and the East Village. Adding “Peace & Quiet” narrows the field to the more tranquil West Village. Each neighborhood has a Web page that displays available rental listings along with large, color-rich photos of its streets and tag lines like “a certain European mystique permeates the West Village.”
It comes in very handy when you’re in Paris and want to find a decent bistro or want to get that artsy vibe. In my opinion, it’s the perfect way to make you feel like that apartment you’re in is not just a weekend getaway but a life. It’s the new way to travel. WE can get you there too… just take a look at all our cheap fares.
