Luxury Travel: A New Definition

You know how we’ve been saying that travel is changing? Well, here’s another way its changing. Besides booking for active holidays—biking, swimming, river rafting (think Australia and New Zealand—people are now booking environmentally conscious vacations that are also luxurious. And we’re not just talking about  reusing their bed linen.  Over the coming years you can finally see sustainability integrated in very cool and  inventive ways.

One way is the environment. Nowadays people want their vacations in nature, think Costa Rica, Belize, the Philippines. they want to feel a part of the place they’re going to, not locked up in a hotel while they’re there. In other words they want to experience the rawest, purest and most unadulterated form of nature possible.
So, in answer to this, here are some of the newest trends:

Sleeping Around

is an extreme example of letting go. This is an experience all in itself.  This is a temporary hotel that is continually placed in different locations around Antwerp. Basic shipping containers have been transformed into a hotel space, with rooms furnished using sustainably sourced materials. Guests find out where they’re sleeping only after confirming their booking, at which point the directions are released via GPS.

Check out this beautiful collection of cabins in northern Portugal park and spa. The cabins were built to fit the gaps between the trees and the placement of windows and doors reflect this too. Imagine that! Biulding to accommodate nature rather than just leveling it to accommodate us? According to the designers Luis Reblo de Andrade and Diogo Aguiar, the cabins were purposely built to have a ‘minimal effect on the local nature’, so that visitors could really experience the park.

And it’s not just for hippies either. Now business people can unwind in a clean, healthy environment.

Every guest is given a virtual tree code when they reserve accommodation at the hotel and can then choose where they would like their tree to be planted, receiving an email certificate verifying planting along with the exact, trackable coordinates through Google Maps.

And then, of course there are the trips we go on to change the world, by changing the way our children see it.  Like trips to Kenya to see the last remaining white rhinos that are all being slaughtered for their horn because men with small penises think eating the horn will make their penises grow, which obviously is not true. Building awareness on the slaughter and extinction of these amazing animals is more important than anything. So book a trip to South Africa soon, we have great deals on tickets to Capetown.

Is a wonderful place to stay in. It’s  hidden in the bush, and allows 10 people a bush experience which is impossible to replicate. The lodge offers some of the best views in Madikwe. The main lodge overlooks a waterhole frequented by elephant families and other big game.
