It’s happening, my friends, one by one, the rich and powerful are saying NO! No more crying kids! No more kicking my seat! No more flying peas! Stinking diapers! Crying, whining!

And finally someone has listened.  Malaysia Airlines has announced its luxury first-class cabins will be child-free zones. No matter how much money you have, if you’ve got kids, you’re going to the back.

The airline, which operates out of Kuala Lumpur, has already imposed the ‘baby ban’ on the first-class cabins of its Boeing 747 jumbo jets.  It will not be installing bassinets in the luxury areas of its new Airbus A380 super jumbos either. So no more cute little bundles all wrapped up in their bassinets:

Malaysia Airlines CEO and managing director Tengku Azmil said he imposed the ban after the company received complaints from well-to-do passengers whose sleep had been disturbed by screaming tots. Travelers with babies will instead have to book seats in economy or business class cabins, which are equipped with bassinets.

The ban, which will affect flights from Kuala Lumpur to London, Amsterdam and Sydney, is thought to be the first such imposed by an airline. While there are people out there who call this intolerance and  discrimination, most of us realize that when you’re paying the kind of money you must pay for first, then you should not have to live with this:

In February, airlines including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic also said they were considering creating children-free flights, but now announcement has since been made. But my feeling is it’s coming. The prices are so high that really they deserve to enjoy a quiet flight. But what about those families who have flown first all their lives and are now being forced to move down a notch? I’m sure you’re not shedding tears, but it seems kind of I don’t know, un-American. to tell them that they can’t fly anymore in first, even if they can afford it.

What do you think?
